Soul Train Episode #047, 1973
It's raining cold and miserable here in the UK, so here's a little something to brighten things up: Soul Train Line Dance to The O'Jays "Love Train".
A Brief History of Pretty Much Everything
Is the final piece for Jamie Bell's AS art course: a flipbook made entirely out of biro pens.
Taking three weeks to make, it's something like 2100 pages long, and about 50 jotter books.
Hong Kong, A Short Film
I have returned from my month away in which I got married in Sydney, stayed a week in Hong Kong, and honeymooned in Thailand. Now I must rectify the neglect i have shown my blog:
So first up, here's a short film I put together of shots I took in Hong Kong. For those who haven't been I hope it gives a good flavor of what is a great city.
A Little Da Da Fun
Today we had a little Da Da session at work at the behest of Laura Jordan-Bambach. I made this. I'm getting married at the end of the month - I hope my gym sessions are working, unlike my attempt at dadaism.
TAT augmented ID
Swiss Miss picked this up the other day.
I see its potential as a realistic bridge between a person's digital and real life. Imagine this future scenario: It's 2025, you're out at a bar and someone catches your eye.
You would like to say 'hi', but the last 35 years of digital interaction has somewhat diminished your human to human social skills. Help is quite literally at hand. Just fire up your AR device, select a mutual social network, and poke 'em right nice (no pun intended):
Augmented ID is a TAT concept that visualizes the digital identities of people you meet in real life. With a mobile device and face recognition software from Polar Rose, Augmented ID enables you to discover selected information about people around you. All users control their own augmented appearance, by selecting the content and social network links they want show to others. Modifying your augmented ID is easier than fixing your hair in real life and, of course, TAT Cascades will make sure you look great!
Michel de Broin - Nuit Blanche
Mirror ball, 1000 mirrors, 7.5 meters in diameter.
The spectacular view of the starry sky has long been a source of delight and curiosity, but the abundance of artificial light in urban areas produces a glow that covers the stars in the firmament. The largest mirror ball ever made was suspended from a construction crane 50 meters above the ground to render the starry sky to the citizens of Paris for one night in the Jardin du Luxembourg during the Nuit Blanche event.
Making an ST 903 Lamp
Danish designer Tom Rossau has sent Contemporist process photos of him making one of his ST 903 lamps.
Tom works mainly with natural wood veneers to create his contemporary sculptural lamps. All of his pieces are handbuilt in Denmark.
If, like Paul, you are fascinated by the process of craft, then you'll enjoy this.
Brad Downey

“Darius and Downey” are chosen as one of the 60 innovators shaping our creative future. Its a nice big book with some great stuff in art, design, fashion and other creative fields, published to mark Thames & Hudson’s 60th anniversary.
Brad Downey is a graduate of the Fine Art Master's program in painting at London's Slade School of Art, where he studied under Bruce McLean.

Marie Schachtel
This set by Marie Schachtel has an eerie, ethereal nature that transports you to a space somewhere between casual observer and voyeur.
